How do I join or renew my membership?

There are multiple ways to purchase a new membership or renew one that already exists:

  • In Person: Purchase a membership at our admissions desk, in the MCA Store, or at the MCA box office.
  • By Phone: Call the Member Services office at 312.397.4040.
  • On the Web: Visit the MCA Store’s website for more than just merchandise—become a member or renew a pre-existing membership by clicking Support the MCA.

What are the benefits of my membership?

What are reciprocal privileges?

Memberships at and above the Premier level provide members with reciprocal privileges, including free admission for two adults to more than 85 museums across the United States and Canada, as well as discounted tickets to films at Chicago’s Gene Siskel Film Center.

How can I keep up with museum exhibitions, programs, and events?

Each year, members receive three issues of the MCA magazine, which includes information about all MCA exhibitions, special events, and performances. Additionally, we send out periodical invitations and reminders about exhibitions. Our website is also a great resource for broadening your experience of the museum and all it has to offer. What is the easiest way to update my contact information or check my membership status?

At your next visit, you can make any changes to your personal information by filling out a Member Service Request form at our admissions desk, in the MCA Store, or at the MCA box office. You can also update your information or inquire about your membership status by calling the Member Services office at 312.397.4040 or e-mail MemberServices@mcachicago.org.

Who should I call with other questions?

Our Member Services office is open during business hours, Monday through Friday, and can be reached at 312.397.4040. You can also e-mail us any inquiries at MemberServices@mcachicago.org.

Is my membership tax deductible?

Yes! The tax deductibility of a membership depends on its level. This information is included on our Membership Benefits Page.

Is my membership refundable?

MCA Chicago does not refund membership dues. Specific questions about gift refunds can be addressed to the Member Services office at 312.397.4040.

How can I purchase tickets to an MCA performance or special event?

By visiting our box office online, members can log in and purchase tickets. To contact the box office directly, call 312.397.4010 or e-mail BoxOffice@mcachicago.org.


Visiting the Museum

Can I bring guests to the MCA?

Yes! You will receive guest passes with your membership materials. Guests simply fill out the pass with their contact information and present it at the admissions desk. The number of guest passes you receive increases with the level of membership purchased.
Please note: Guest passes are redeemable during regular museum hours only, and are not valid for Members’ Previews, ticketed exhibitions, or special events.

Can family members or friends use my membership card?

Membership cards are nontransferable and only grant access to the member named on the card. If you would like to send a family member or friend to the museum, you can provide them with one of the guest passes you received with your membership materials.

When can members access the museum?

The museum is open Tuesday, 10 am–8 pm, and Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am–5 pm. Additional events (such as Members’ Previews and First Fridays) are scheduled outside of normal operating hours, and members receive complimentary invitations or discounted admission to these events.

Where can I park when I visit?

Convenient discounted parking for MCA visitors is available in our parking garage. MCA members receive a discount of $4 off the standard parking rate. For more information, click here.


Membership Materials

What should I do if I lose my membership card?

To have new materials issued, call the Member Services office at 312.397.4040.

When will I receive my new membership cards?

Membership materials generally arrive about three to four weeks after purchase. However, you can visit the museum as soon as you’ve made the purchase, even if your new card has not yet arrived.

May I designate a secondary membership cardholder?

Depending on your level of membership, you may be eligible for a second card (Individual, Student, and Out-of-Town members receive only one card.) When purchasing a membership that does permit a second card, you will be asked for the name of the second cardholder upon purchase.


Making Other Contributions

How do I buy someone else a gift membership?

You can purchase gift memberships two ways:

  • In Person: Purchase a membership at our admissions desk, in the MCA Store, or at the MCA box office.
  • By Phone: Call the Member Services office at 312.397.4040.

Can I make a contribution in honor or in memory of someone?

Contributions made in honor or in memory of someone may be made to the MCA Annual Fund. All Annual Fund gifts are 100% tax deductible. Annual Fund donations are not membership dues and will not renew your MCA membership.

Contributions may be made in various ways:

What if I organize a matching gift to the MCA?

When members organize matching gifts to the MCA, we apply the entire gift amount toward their membership dues. Contact your employer for information about matching gift opportunities.
