UBS 12 × 12: New Artists/New Work
Paul Dickinson

May 3–Jun 2, 2002

Paul Dickinson employs a variety of media to produce meaning through language. The languages spoken in his art, however, are often unconventional and easy to miss or misinterpret—from the buzzing of flies to sounds recorded with a body-mike taped to the artist while performing tai chi exercises. Dickinson borrows elements from popular culture, Eastern mysticism, and psychology in his sound, video, and installation works.

He received an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1999.
