Tan Wee Lit has been described as a visual social commentator who uses humor and occasionally satire in his projects and installations, which often feature a performative aspect. Growing up in Singapore has contributed to his unique perspective on the politics of the contemporary art world, something he explores from the viewpoint of the “underdog,” as well as on larger social and political issues. He creates a Chicago-specific work dealing with social issues that raise awareness of the complex role of the citizen in a modern democracy.
This project is realized with support from the National Arts Council, Singapore.
