VI Chicago Flamenco Festival
Sat, Feb 24, 2007, 7–7 pm
A night of Flamenco-Sefardí
Presented by Instituto Cervantes in association with the MCA
Bailaoras Israelíes del Café de Chinitas (Israeli Dancers of Café de Chinitas)
The Four Elements
Don’t miss this extraordinary event direct from Madrid’s legendary Café de Chinitas, home to the world’s leading Flamenco artists. For the first time since generations past, two dancers born in Israel reign as bailaoras in Madrid and are accompanied by an incomparable grouping of electric cello, cajon, guitar, and voice.
The program embodies the four elements of nature and the four palos, the forms of flamenco that have stirred the human heart for centuries: joy (alegrías) as water; temptation (tientos) as earth; tangos, as air; and the sun (soleares) as fire. This exceptional fusion commemorates the 20th anniversary of Israeli-Spanish diplomatic relations.
The VI Chicago Flamenco Festival runs January 24–February 24, 2007. For the complete schedule please visit the Instituto Cervantes.
For tickets call the MCA Box Office at 312.397.4010.
