Teacher Workshop November: David Bowie Is
Sat, Nov 15, 2014, 10 am–1 pm
Be a part of MCA’s highly anticipated exhibition David Bowie Is by joining this special teacher workshop!
David Bowie is a musical innovator and cultural icon, whose radical individualism has inspired others to challenge convention and pursue freedom of expression.
In this three-hour workshop, led by artist Cheryl Pope, investigate objects and ephemera in the exhibition, and make and generate playful, fresh ways to bring the art and influence of David Bowie into your classroom.
About the Artist
Cheryl Pope is an interdisciplinary artist whose work includes sculpture, video, installation, assemblage, drawing, and performance. Pope addresses issues of connectivity and identity that inform the way in which we live our lives today. Pope received her Master’s in Design in 2010 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across the United States and Europe.
About the Exhibition
David Bowie Is presents the first retrospective of the extraordinary career of David Bowie—one of the most pioneering and influential performers of our time. The exhibition brings together more than 300 objects, including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, photography, set designs, album artwork, and rare performance material from the past five decades for the first time. David Bowie Is was organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and has embarked on an international tour with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago as its only US venue.
