Story Week Festival of Writers
Chicago Classics

Fri, Mar 23, 2012, 6–6 pm

Presented by Columbia College Chicago Fiction Writing Department in association with MCA Stage

Affectionately known as the “Lollapalooza of literary events,” Story Week Festival takes place across town over six days for readings, conversations, panels, performances, and book signings with acclaimed authors. Chicago Classics, the festival’s blockbuster reading party by some of Chicago’s own luminaries reading each other’s words, takes place at the MCA and is hosted by Rick Kogan. Co-sponsored in part by the Chicago Public Library and Metro.

Doors open at 5:30 pm. Join us for a rare solo piano performance by composer and improviser Paul Giallorenzo. Book signings immediately follow the readings, by many of the featured writers including:

  • Regina Taylor, “The Trinity River Plays” (2011 premiere, Goodman Theatre); “Magnolia” (2009 premiere, Goodman Theatre); and “Crowns” (2002 premiere, McCarter Theatre)
  • Adam Levin, “The Instructions” (McSweeney’s, 2010), “Hot Pink” (McSweeney’s, 2012)
