10 am–Noon: Family Studio
Drop in for a hands-on project involving creative thinking and making, led by an MCA teaching artist.
Noon–1:30 pm: MCA Talk: CITY SELF Pop-up Artist Talks
Join Chicago-based artists Tom Van Eynde (noon), Michelle Keim (12:30 pm), and Scott Fortino (1 pm), as they discuss their works in the exhibition CITY SELF.
1:15–2:30 pm: The Living Room
The MCA’s Teen Creative Agency (TCA) invites you to The Living Room, an intimate space to talk, think, and share. The teens lead interpretive conversations and activities, using works of art as catalysts.
3–4 pm: William J. O’Brien in conversation with Naomi Beckwith
To celebrate the opening of his MCA exhibition, William J. O’Brien and Marilyn and Larry Fields Curator Naomi Beckwith engage in a conversation about the works on view.
6–7:30 pm: MCA Talk: Tacita Dean
Artist Tacita Dean, whose work appears in The Way of the Shovel, speaks about her practice. Best known for her 16 mm films—which incorporate drawing, photography, and sound—Dean seeks connections between the past and present.
