Family Day: Anticipate the Warmth, featuring the Animation Station

Summer is almost here! Relish a day of creative inspiration at the MCA as you make your own digital animations. Families can work with artists to invent things to play with in the summer months.

Activities are appropriate for all ages. Admission is FREE For families with children 12 and under.


1. The Animation Station
Presented by the Chicago Humanities Festival, work with professional animators to learn the art of animation through techniques including pixilation, scratch-on-film, and clay animation.

2. Felt Making
Learn the technique of hand felting used by artist Andrea Zittel to make your own creation with the help of artist Dominique Enriquez.

3. Summer Sacks
Anticipate the warmth by personalizing a summer bag you can use at the beach or by the pool. Led by artist Cheryl Pope.

4. Tot Spot
Refreshments await you on the ground floor where you can recharge in-between art-making activities.

The Chicago Humanities Festival joins the MCA Stage to present a selection of fantastically imaginative theater productions for children in the MCA Theater. These are all separate ticketed events available through the MCA Box Office at 312.397.4010, or online.
