The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago seeks seasonal part-time Sales Associates to sell merchandise, including jewelry, fashion accessories, design objects, and art books, while providing an excellent experience to guests in the MCA Store. Duties include engaging our audience in conversation about our distinctive selection of merchandise, building and maintaining customer relationships, capturing sales, operating retail computer programs, assisting with special orders, and opening and closing the store. Additional responsibilities include restocking and maintaining the selling floor. Sales Associates are required to develop a working knowledge of the MCA Store’s inventory and the museum’s exhibitions and programs.
Retail sales experience strongly preferred. Some college preferred. Art, design, and fashion enthusiasm is a plus. Must be highly motivated and demonstrate initiative. Applicant must be creative, able to work in a fast-paced environment, have strong interpersonal skills, and enjoy selling. An ability to communicate fluently in English and mobility throughout the store is required. Applicant must have scheduling flexibility and be available to work a minimum of 16 hours per week, including weekends and some after-hours events as needed.
This position will be temporary through August 31, 2014.
