2014: a year of cutting-edge contemporary culture at MCA Chicago

The groundbreaking exhibition Isa Genzken: Retrospective (Apr–Aug 2014) chronicles the career of one of the most important and influential female sculptors of the past thirty years.

Simon Starling: Metamorphology (Jun–Nov 2014) is the first American retrospective of Simon Starling, winner of the 2005 Turner Prize and one of the leading artists of his generation.

The MCA is proud to be the only US venue to host David Bowie Is (Sep 2014–Jan 2015). The first international retrospective of David Bowie—one of the most pioneering and influential performers of our time—captivated sold-out crowds at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.

Visit the MCA Stage at the end of July as the MCA hosts the critically acclaimed Greg Spero Trio. Featuring collaborations of different percussive arts masters from around the world, the rousing JUBA! performances, part of Chicago’s prized citywide festival Rhythm World, present extraordinary tap and percussive dancers for three distinct programs (Jul 30–Aug 2, 2014).

This small sample of what the MCA has planned for 2014 illustrates the kinds of spectacular, provocative programs that we can introduce to the city of Chicago thanks to your support.
