I thoroughly enjoyed his residency this past year, far more than I expected. The cardboard boxes were a disappointing shock when I first saw them; I thought, "Oh goodness, really? Art? More like a stack of trash." Then the next month I noticed the wonderful neon THINGS sculpture--ah interesting. The painted walls were so simple and so...big! I loved the movement, the graphic simplicity, the human hand. Maybe my very favorite was the Lego Tower. I loved it so much that I've recreated three versions (one for myself, two for friends), with slight alterations. And the crumbled paper--well, there's a story there too. Creed's work has shown me a joyous spirit and some wry humor--not easy things to do with art, Art.

And what's a 40-penny nail anyway?
