Associate Director of Education: Interpretation and Public Programs
The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA) seeks a full-time Associate Director of Education: Interpretation and Public Programs. She/He will be a major contributor in the development of interactive and creative approaches to a more audience-engaged museum. They will conceive, develop, and manage all interpretative materials and exhibition learning for museum audiences in collaboration with the curatorial department with the ambition to intensify all visitor experiences and help create opportunities for how meanings are generated. She/He will also work in partnership with the Beatrice C. Mayer Director of Education to curate and manage a program of public talks and opportunities to raise MCA’s profile of art historical, critical, theoretical, and cultural debate and artistic programs in the city and beyond.
MA in Art History, Curatorial Studies or equivalent required. PhD or journalism degree would be an additional asset. A minimum of five years experience in a museum interpretation or curatorial position, or equivalent experience required. Demonstrated excellent writing, editing and verbal skills required. Background in contemporary art is strongly desired. General mobility throughout all museum properties is required. Ability to undertake national and international travel is advantageous. Full-time schedule is Monday through Friday with evenings and special events as required.
