Preparators
The Museum of Contemporary Art seeks to maintain a pool of qualified Preparators for periodic employment to assist with the installation and de-installation of scheduled exhibitions at the museum and to assist the Preparators Department with non-exhibition activities.
Documented prior art handling experience required. Minimum one year museum preparation experience preferred. Wall framing, sheathing and painting skills and familiarity with carpentry shop tools highly desired. Other manual skills are also noted. Individuals must have the ability to safely lift up to sixty pounds and general mobility throughout the building is required. Must also be comfortable working at elevated heights when required and possess aptitudes for quick learning, problem solving and above all, teamwork. Individuals must be available to work for periods ranging from one day to several weeks, Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm, as well as some weekend and evening hours as needed. Work opportunities are generally announced one month in advance although some exceptions may occur.
